Electronic version of Scientific Almanac "Pivdenna Ukraina (Southern Ukraine)" covers all the materials one may find on the pages of paper volumes in full. The first volume of the Almanac has been published in 1996 by efforts of Research Laboratory of the History of Southern Ukraine at ZSU. The laboratory has later given birth to Zaporozhye Scientific Society named after Yakiv Novitsky.
Primary objective of "Pivdenna Ukraina" is to consolidate the efforts of leading research centers, regional studios of Dnipropetrovs'k, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Odessa, Simferopol, Kharkiv, Kherson as well as of Kiev and L'viv in their research and studies of the history of Southern Land. The pages of the volumes present the publications of historic primary sources, scientific papers, the profiles of the noticeable figures of Southern Ukraine, essays on historical heritage of outstanding researchers: Polons'ka, Vasilenko, Guslisty, Novits'ky, Yavornitsky, Ryabkov and others.
We hope that, due to financial support of International Renaissance Foundation and due to technical backing of Zaporozhye State University the foundation of this very e-almanac will substantially facilitate to further growth of the regional socially and professionally oriented information space. We expect that this full-text e-media will catalize further intensification of scientific discussions in the Historical Domain, foster research exchanges, higher the quality facet of regional research schools.
